In Yogi Bear land // Al païs del Oso Yogui

 

           Yellowstone. Amazing place, saw some lovely things like the Sulphur Springs and the Old Faithful geyser, which erupts every 90 minutes on the clock.  Loads of deer and buffalo roaming around the park as well as Grizzly bears, who attacked and killed one person here a few days ago. On the negative side it was the worst traffic we had to deal with since we left Vancouver. That’s cause on top of the hundreds of tourist from around the world this is the only time during the year when they can do road  works, so the tailbacks were fenomenal (...for Eva) and headwrecking (...for Trevor).  No wonder why the Grizzly’s are getting more and more agressive having to deal with all this traffic every day!! It was a relief when we got back to the quiet roads down through Wyoming and into Utah, admiring the difference of the landscape as we went along.

Hem arrivat al Parc de Yellowstone. Un lloc magnific on hem vist coses com manatials de sulfur, i geysers com l’anomenat The Old Faithful que entra en erupció cada 90 minuts de rellotge. Hi ha molts cèrvols i bufalos lliures per tot el parc i tambè ossos Grizzly, que fa una setmana que van atacar i matar a una persona uns dies abans de la nostra arrivada. La part negativa del parc es el tràfic, el pitjor qu hem vist des de que vam començar a Vancouver. Això es debut a que a sobre de les grans quantitats de turistes de tot el mòn que el visiten quasi tot el parc esta en obres de reforma ja que es l’unic moment de l’any on es poden fer, creant unes caravanes fenomenals (...per l’Eva) i pessadisimes (...pel Trevor). No ens estranya que els Grizzlys s’estant tornant mes i mes agressius, amb aquest tràfic quasevol es torna boig!!  Ha estat un plaer tornar a les carreteres mes tranqui.les de Wyoming i Utah, on es pot anar veient les differències de paisatge.

Yesterday we were hoping to get accomodation in the town of Jackson, Wyoming, but it was not possible to camp or even to get a room anywhere due to the amount of people coming in or to Yellowstone. We had to keep going to the next town, 60 miles away, in the hopes we get a campsite or a motel. No sooner we had decided this and on our way a thunderstorm came out of nowhere, complete with thunder and lighting, USA style (big, big, BIG!!!). So off we went. Eventually rain stopped and gave way to a spectacular scenery. Was getting late and still did not find anywhere to stay, so decided to pull in to this bar-saloon place on the road in the middle of nowhere full of pics on the walls of local guys with dead bears and dead wolves up on the counter where we now sat to eat our hamburgers,...thinking back...where they really hamburgers??? Got talking to one of the boys in the bar who told us about a possible place to camp just a bit up the road. When we got there drove into a small horse ranch which had set up a hunting camp around the back, complete with outdoor facilities for butchering and cooking the victims (...maybe this is where our burgers came from, organic produce at its best!!). Accomodation turned out to be an antic canvas tent with a little wood stove inside at 5$ per person a night which due to our desperate situation  we were very very happy to take.Now as we are writing this we are in a 50$ motel room in a town called Vernal (Utah) which is like a night in the Ritz Carlton compare to last night.

Ahir vam arrivar al poble de Jackson al estat de Wyoming, però no vam poder trobar cap camping o habitació disponible a causa dels turistes que venen o van cap a Yellowstone, així que vam decidir de continuar cap el següent poble, a uns 100Km, esperant trobar algun lloc on pasar la nit. En acabar de decidir tot això va caure una pluja increïble amb llamps i trons, a l’estil americà (...tot es mes gran a Amèrica!!!). Quan la tronada va pasar el sol va tornar a aparèixer i vam pasar per uns llocs molt macos. S’anava fent tard i no trobàvem cap lloc on pasar la nit. Vam decidir de parar a un bar perdut de carretera amb fotos a les parets de gent de a zona amb ossos i llops morts a sobre de la barra del bar on en aquell moment ens menjàvem una hamburguesa,...be ara que ho pensem...eren realment hamburgueses??? Vam xerrar amb un dels nois del bar que ens va recomenar un lloc al costat del bar on podiem pasar la nit. Quan vam anar cap allà vam veure que el lloc era un ranxo de cavalls i darrera de la casa tenien montat un lloc de acampada per caçadors de la zona, on un pot preparar i cuinar el que ha caçat a l’aire lliure (...potser era d’aqui on les hamburgueses venien...menjar fresc i orgànic!!).  I el lloc on dormir va acabar sent una tenda antiga de lona amb una estufa de ferro de llenya que costava nomes 5 dolards per persona. En la nostra situació desesperada no teniem gaires opcions així que vam estar molt contents de pasar-hi la nit.

Avui som a un motel a 50 dolards la habitació, i comparat amb lo d’ahir es com estar al Ritz Carlton.
